York County Food Bank – York PA

Give A Meal

Give A Meal

The Give A Meal program is a joint venture between the York County Food Bank and area school districts that seeks to provide all families in need with a holiday meal.

In our community where one in six children struggle with hunger, many families simply do not have the resources to provide a holiday meal for their loved ones.

And so that’s where the Food Bank and families throughout the County help.  At the Food Bank, we believe that no one should go hungry and every family deserves a holiday meal.  Each year, we aim to fill 3,000 boxes for those in need.  Each holiday meal box includes a frozen turkey and all the sides for a traditional holiday meal.

Participating school districts host food drives to collect the sides, the Food Bank provides the frozen turkey, and volunteers help to pack and deliver the boxes just in time to bring some holiday cheer to those families that might have to go without.

A gift of just $30 helps provide a family in need with the ingredients for a hearty and nutritious holiday meal.  Make an online gift today to ensure all families in York have the opportunity to share a holiday meal this year.

We could not provide food for our hungry neighbors during the holidays and throughout the year without the help of our volunteers. Learn more about the volunteer opportunities we have available at our Food Bank.

Bring Your Turkey to Church Day

November 24th, 2019

For every fortunate family gathered around a beautiful table covered with delicious food, there is someone else who is not as fortunate and who does not have the means to provide the same for their family. For low income individuals, every day is another time that they find themselves unable to provide an adequate dinner for their family. Please help us feed the need this holiday season!

So encourage your church to participate in this one-day event that will assure that hungry families have a joyous holiday meal this year! All you have to do is bring a frozen turkey to your service of participating churches on November 24th, 2019 to help the York County Food Bank provide 3,000 meals to your neighbors this holiday season! York County Food Bank volunteers will collect the turkeys after the service that day. Turkeys given through this county-wide event will be used in holiday meal boxes packed through the Give A Meal program

Headlock on Hunger

Thanks to all who attended the Headlock on Hunger2 Event on November 9th at the York Central Market located at 34 W Philadelphia St, York PA.

The Give A Meal program is a joint venture between the York County Food Bank and area school districts that seeks to provide holiday meals for families who cannot afford them.  Participating school districts host food drives for non-perishable food goods, and volunteers from the Food Bank package these goods into holiday meals for local families. Through this program, many families who are not usually able to afford traditional holiday meals are able to enjoy them.

Thanks for helping us put a headlock on hunger this holiday season!
