Mobile Food Pantry!
What is it?
The Mobile Food Pantry will be visiting designated locations across York County twice a week to distribute nutritious food to participating public facilities. The Mobile Pantry will be utilized to introduce produce and other healthy food items that may not be familiar to some York County residents, but offer more nutritional value. Each delivery will consist of items such as dairy products, fresh, in-season produce and frozen meats, as well as canned and dry goods. We will also be delivering recipe books in to those in need. These recipes will serve to educate food recipients about how to best utilize the food they are taking home. The goal is to provide to deliver to each township in York County twice per month in order to ensure that all hungry persons throughout the county have the opportunity to obtain fresh, nutritious foods.
Harley-Davidson Foundation Partnership!
We received a generous $10,000 grant from the Harley-Davidson Foundation! The Harley-Davidson Foundation strives to improve the quality of life for all by targeting their charitable giving in the areas of greatest need in Education, Environment and Health. The donation will help support the York County Food Bank's newest hunger relief initiative, the Mobile Food Pantry. This generous Mobile Food Pantry grant from Harley-Davidson will allow us to work towards our ultimate goal of a hunger-free York!
Main Areas of Need
We have identified four areas of York County that are in the greatest need for nutritional support. These four areas are: Manchester, Wrightsville, Red Lion and Delta.Through the implementation of a new mobile pantry, the YCFB will be able to drive into these areas and distribute nutritious food directly in the community.
