A LETTER FROM OUR CEO

Urgent: Funding Freeze Threatens Food for Families in York County

Dear Friend,

The York County Food Bank’s ability to feed our food insecure neighbors relies heavily on the compassion and generosity of our community. On behalf of the 40,000 children, seniors, and individuals we help feed every month, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support and ask for your continued help.

Right now, there’s a lot of uncertainty in Washington. Federal funding that helps us provide food is being reduced or put at risk. Without this support, we stand to lose over $1 million worth of food, including meat, cheese and eggs. This means we will have 25% less food available in 2025 compared to 2024, at a time when our neighbors need it more than ever.

Five years ago, at the height of the pandemic, we witnessed an incredible outpouring of support and compassion from our community. Many experts believed the increased need during the COVID-19 pandemic would eventually return to normal. Unfortunately, food insecurity is on the rise again due to ongoing economic pressures.

Our Food Bank team and our community partners see this reality every day. The need persists in every single community in York County. These are uncertain times, but we are strongest when we come together to support our neighbors in need.

That’s why I’m asking you to consider supporting our efforts to help bridge the gap:

Donate

Financial contributions help replenish food bank supplies. Every $1 donated provides 2 meals.

Volunteer

Assist with our food distribution efforts. Sign up for a volunteer shift today!

Advocate

Raise awareness and contact elected officials to oppose funding cuts.

Together, we can help our neighbors navigate these challenging times and create a lasting, positive impact in our communities. We are grateful for your kindness and support.

Thankfully,

Jennifer Brillhart
